Album Stream notes[]

' beginning with a simple concept - recording sounds from the trails near my house and taking the listener on a walk down them - this piece of work almost immediately blossomed into an emotionally devastating journey after having a very powerful moment with a friend of mine. all of the concepts explored here are abstract, but all of the tones are surely relatable. as of this writing, i am sure this will be my strongest concept work for some time (as i plan to ease up on the large-scale ideas for a bit to recharge), and is the piece that allowed me to finally tell myself i've made something really awesome. i hope you enjoy it. ' [1]

Newsletter notes[]

Story[]

A story was originally meant to be included in 2YR via the lyrics metadata, but Emma decided against it as they wanted listeners to have their own journeys and experiences with the album. The story is embedded into the digital download of 2YR and can still be found in the tracks's metadata. [2]

Trivia[]

  • A hidden track exists on the CD version of 2YR. [3]
  • Unused 2YR stems can be heard in the promo video for the CD's shipping, 8th ACD and the album promo trailer. [4] [5] [6]
  • 8th ACD was originally planned to be on 2YR between Cataclysm at Lakeshore and Tweesee Smiled, but was scrapped as Emma 'didn't feel it fit the overall theme or progression of the work.' [6]
  • The textbox used in the promo trailer is made to resemble text boxes from Earthbound. [7]
  • The three totem heads on the cover and in the art book are based off of hyi, Rotteen and Darius. [8]
  • The numbers 40:28.649 in the title refer to the album’s full run time. The vinyl version is known as 38:33.941 due to time differences.[9]
